Who says what now?

Me and =PearlEden are teaming up again to bring you another contest, and the prizes this time round are even more super awsome than last time!

Because somebody watches waaaay too much Avatar, the theme of this contest is 'Elements'

The challenge is to design a character based on one of the four elements: fire, water, air and earth.

Rules

- The character must be inspired by one of these elements: fire, water, air and earth (earth can include either metal, rock or plant)
- The character can be animal, human, fantasy, half-snake-half-magical-unicorn, whatever you want it to be.
- Limit of three peices per person.
- No characters copyrighted to others.
- NO existing entrys please, only entrys that have been made after the contest starts

1st place
- Set of 36 polychromos coloured pencils
- A3 full coloured picture of the winning design from kankakanka and PearlEden
- 1 year sub to deviantart and a custom journal CSS
- set of metal papers (5)

2nd place
- A4 coloured picture of second place winning design from kankakanka and PearlEden
- 6 month subscription to deviantart

3rd place
- collaboration of the third place winning design by kankakanka and pearleden

Judging

In the entrys we are looking for the best design and most original ideas. Me and pearl will pick 10 finalists based on these and the finalists will be voted for by poll.

FAQ

about the contest - Please please PLEASE read the rules first! I have been swamped with old deviations when we specifically said we would not accept old pictures. This is because there must be thousands of pictures on deviantart about this subject already.

I'll write some of the common awnsers to questions here (unless i had already written it in the main journal)

firstly and most importantly, this contest is about design. That dosent mean draw a picture with a specific element theme, it means you must design a character based on it. How you present this design is up to you, if you want to do a character sheet of it or an action picture of it, both are fine. You should do what ever you feel promotes the design best.

The character cannot be more than one element. you can make multiple characters with diffent elements, but only one element per design please. (and please write it somewhere in the description too so we are absolutly sure which one it is)

You can put more than one character in a picture. They can be of the same element or differnt but if you win, only one will be draw as your prize.

Originality and creativity does not equal technical skill. A well thought out, creative and original character will be rated better than a brilliantly drawn picture with a poor and unoriginal character.

Prizes will be shipped worldwide. If you are unable or unwilling to give us your address if you win, you simply cannot recive any of the physical prizes. We will not offer anything else.

Any art medium is accepted (except litrature). If you do a photomanipulation, you must list your sources.

Your picture should be in colour. Please put at least some effort into it.

The elements - ice counts as water, electricity can be fire or air. metal, plant and rock counts as earth. we dont count light or dark as elements but you can compine them with the listed ones.

You can enter characters you already have, but you must draw them again (no old deviations remember).

You can submit up to three peices, they dont have to be all of the same element, they can be different if you want.

Your characters will not be used by us, we dont dont want you to design them for us. We are only offerng to draw them as prizes because we thought it might actually be nice. If you win and dont want us to draw them, we wont, but we wont draw anything else for you either as a replacement.
